Media Library - Adding images & searching for images online (website add-on only)

Modified on Tue, 24 Sep at 12:56 PM

When you add an Image Element Block to a Page in your broadcast.radio website, or if you are editing other Elements that contain images, there three possible sources that you can use.

  • Upload Image - if you have the image you want to use on your computer then you can upload it to the Media Library for inclusion in your website.
  • Search Media Library & Online - you can also browse through all images that you have previously uploaded or used on your site and select an image from there. You can also use the Search Online feature in the Media Library which will search for relevant images in the Pexels library which includes hundreds of images that you are free to use on any website.
  • Link URL - finally, you can link to an external image that is already online by adding the image URL.

In the example below, we will go through the steps needed to add an Image Element Block to a page although the same process will apply anywhere where images are used.

Uploading An Image

To upload an image for use on a page, follow these steps.

  1. Login to your broadcast.radio account.
  2. Click on Content > Pages and select the Page that you wish to Edit to add an image to.
  3. Click on the '+' button to add a new Element Block and find the Image Element Block from the list (tip: you can search for it if you like).

  4. This will add a blank Image Element Block to your page. Click on the Upload button to upload an image.

mceclip2.pngYou can now browse to find the image you want to upload.

Image Attributes

The image will be added to your page. You can use the Menu Bar options to align the image, you can also use the options panel to the right to adjust image size, shape and description. Finally, you can add a caption to your image if you wish.

Click on the image you want to use to add it to the Image Element Block.

  6. If you do not see the image you want to use, toggle the Search On Line button to the right of the Search bar to extend the search to include images in the Pexel library.

In the example below we will search for another 'cheese' image but this time we will search online.

  7. Let's choose one of the images from the online search. Just click on the image and the image will be downloaded to the Media Library and added to your page.

Images from the Pexel website are free to use on your website.

Insert image from URL

The final option is to link to an image that is already online (maybe on another site) via URL.

Please note that you should only link to images that you control (so they will not be moved or deleted later) and that you have the rights to use.

  1. Login to your broadcast.radio account.
  2. Click on Content > Pages and select the Page that you wish to Edit to add an image to.
  3. Click on the '+' button to add a new Element Block and find the Image Element Block from the list (tip: you can search for it if you like).

  4. This will add a blank Image Element Block, click on the Insert from URL option  to to add in image from a URL.

  5. Paste in the URL that you want to use as the source for the image. In the example below we are pasting in the link for a Myriad logo used on the Broadcast Radio website.

  6. The image is added to the page but is being loaded from the original location, so if you change the image at the source (but retain the URL location) then the image would also be updated on this page.

This method is useful of you have an image that will be regularly updated and you want the update to be displayed in multiple places but it is also risky as you may well forget about linked images in the future and change or remove the source image without realising the effect on linked images.
