Adding Broadcast.Radio Output To OCP 5

Modified on Tue, 24 Sep at 12:57 PM

Introduction

UPDATE: MyStation has been renamed to broadcast.radio. This article has been updated to reflect this change.

This article will guide you through the process of adding the broadcast.radio (MyStation) Output to OCP 5.

broadcast.radio (MyStation) is the replacement for the BR Player and offers a feature rich web player as well as providing the ‘back end’ data for our range of mobile apps. The process for adding a MyStation Output to Myriad OCP v5 is very similar to the BR Player.

Process

Click on the Add Output button and select broadcast.radio (MyStation) Output from the list:

Next you will be asked to provide the unique API key for your MyStation account:

To find this, login to your broadcast.radio (MyStation) and navigate Settings menu and select Playout Integration:

You will see your unique API key in the top section.

Copy your API key and then paste it into the API Key floating window in OCP.

Then click Ok.

You will then see the settings window for your broadcast.radio (MyStation) Output. Do not adjust these settings as they have been pre-set to the correct values:

Please note that some fields cannot be edited in Myriad OCP Standard.

Click on OK and you will see that your broadcast.radio (MyStation) Output has been added to the list of Outputs.

Have you configured Myriad 5 Playout to talk to OCP 5?

Add the 'Output' is only half of the story, Myriad 5 Playout must also be configured to 'talk' to OCP 5. You only need to do this once for all 'Outputs' but if you have not done so before, you need to follow these steps to configure Myriad 5 Playout to send information to OCP 5.

In Myriad Playout (logged in with a User account with sufficient permissions to alter the settings), click on Settings Menu > Database Settings > Database Setting then click on the Stations Tab and finally double click on the specific Station you want to setup OCP 5 for.

In the Edit Station Settings windows, click on the Connections tab. This tab allows you to setup the connections to a range of Broadcast Radio family products including OCP 5.

Ignore the Send Now Playing Information To Myriad OCP SE setting, that is only used for OCP SE, not OCP 5!

In the Station Connections area, click on the + button to drop down a list of potential connections and selects Myriad OCP v5 Connection from the list.

This will open the OCP 5 Connection settings for Myriad 5 Playout.

Add the following details:

  • Computer Name / IP Address – You can add in the computer name or IP address of the PC that OCP 5 is running on. If OCP is running on the same PC then you can put in ‘localhost’.
  • Encoder External Reference – This is the unique reference that OCP and Myriad will use to ensure the correct information it passed to the correct OCP Station. This should be set to be exactly the same as the OCP Station Reference in the OCP Station Settings.
  • Connection Is Enabled – You can toggle whether the connection is enabled or not.

When you are happy, click on OK and the OCP 5 Connection will be added to the Station Connection list.

Testing The Connection

Now that you have configured both OCP 5 and Myriad Playout, you can test the connection by clicking on the Off Air / On Air button in Myriad Playout.

mceclip4.png

Click on the Off Air button (top right of Myriad Playout) to switch from Off Air to On Air.

You will briefly see a 'OCP Connecting' warning as Myriad Playout connects to OCP 5.

mceclip5.png

TIP: If your connection to OCP cannot be established or if one or more Outputs fail to execute correctly, an orange warning panel is displayed in Myriad 5 Playout to warn the On-Air studio.

mceclip6.png

If you switch to OCP 5, you will see that the top of the Station panel now has the current Now Playing information and you can also see which studio has On-Air control (Studio 1 in example below).

mceclip7.png

If you do not see an On-Air / Off-Air button in Myriad Playout, it may be that you need to review your On-Air settings in Settings Menu > Application Settings then the On-Air Control tab.
