Organisations, Brands & Stations In Broadcast.Radio and Myriad Cloud

When Broadcast.Radio was initially launched, it was built around the concept of a single portal for a radio station to manage streaming, apps, websites etc.

 

After Myriad Cloud was launched, B.R became the main portal for managing Myriad Cloud and accessing broadcast tools in addition to everything previous.

 

As more and more stations launch on Myriad Cloud or use a hybrid of on premise Myriad Playout and Myriad Cloud, it became clear we needed a better organisational hierarchy in Broadcast.Radio and Myriad Cloud to allow broadcasters to operate and manage multiple services within a single portal.

 

From autumn 2024, the original structure is replaced with a new, three tier structure:

  • Organisations: The company or station owner.
    • Brands: Major brands withing the company (Capital, Heart etc).
      • Stations: Individual stations within a Brand (Heart FM, Heart Musicals, Heart 90s etc)

All Stations within a Brand share the same content via their Media Walls but operate their own Clocks, Schedule, Rules etc, and all the normal broadcast tools associated with Myriad Cloud (VT, BR Live etc)

 

All accounts will automatically be converted to an Organisation with at least one Brand, and at least one Station.

 

Let’s look at an example:

The attached organizational chart shows a fictional radio group with two main brands, let’s call them Big City Radio and Cardiac Radio.

 

Currently, they run Big City Radio from studios in London, but Cardiac Radio launched as a Myriad Cloud station from day one.

 

The group has decided that it wants to launch a couple of extra stations for each brand but does not have time, space or resources to build new studios and install equipment at their studios.

 

They are also not sure if these new stations will be permanent additions so would rather not invest heavily, only to close them a few months down the line if they need to.


The simplest answer is to use Myriad Cloud to spin-up the new stations, using the same content as the main Brand but with each Station having its own Clocks, Rules, Scheduling and Playout. This will allow the group to rapidly deploy the stations with minimal effort beyond building some new Clocks.

 

As the new Stations are fully independent Myriad Systems, they can Voice Track and even include live shows in any of them!

In the example diagram above, Big City Radio is physically based at the studios in London and the Brand Content is automatically replicated from London to the Myriad Cloud platform for the new Stations.
Cardiac Radio was launched as a Myriad Cloud station so the new Stations can use the Brand content already in place.

 

Access to the Brands and Stations is controlled per User so the organization can decide which talent can access which Stations etc.

Single Stations

If you only operate a single station, you probably do not need to have this level of organisational structure but we will still automatically create an Organisation, Brand and Station for you within your portal so that you can take advantage in the future as required.

Your new structure will look like:

  • Your Station Ltd (Organisation)
    • Your Station (Brand)
      • Your Station FM (Station)

Benefits

The main benefit of this change in structure is to allow stations to easily deploy additional services under a Brand, using the same common data as other Stations under the same Brand. Whether this is for Christmas pop-up stations or specialist 'channels', the ability to easily and rapidly deploy an additional Myriad Cloud Station makes the process easy.
