Automatically Import Files From Dropbox / OneDrive (native)

Modified on Tue, 24 Sep at 12:40 PM

In this article, we will explain how to automatically download the file directly from Dropbox or OneDrive, so you do not need to have the Dropbox software setup on your local PC.

Prerequisites:

  • Myriad v6.2.1 (or higher).
  • AutoImporter v6.2.1 (or higher).
  • Dropbox or OneDrice login details.

Setting Up A Dropbox Group In AutoImporter

Follow these steps to create a new AutoImporter Group that will automatically download the latest file directly from your Dropbox account.

  1. In AutoImporter, click on the Importers Menu and select Add new Importer Group.

  2. Give the group a suitable Name and select the Files in a Dropbox folder option.

  3. Click on the Login to Dropbox button (ignore the Folder option for now, you would use this if you are importing from a local Dropbox folder).

  4. Click on the Dropbox Login button.

  5. Use your email address and password to login to Dropbox.

  6. Click on the Continue button when DropBox asks you to confirm that the app is from a trusted source (ie Broadcast Radio!).

  7. Click on the Allow button to allow AutoImporter to connect to your Dropbox account.

  8. Next you will see a unique code. Copy this code and paste it into the box at the top of the window, then click on Continue.

  9. Now that AutoImporter is logged into your Dropbox account, you can use the Folder Browse button to browse your Dropbox folders and select the folder you want to import from.

  10. Select the folder you want to use.

  11. Once you are happy with the folder selection, click on Next.

  12. Set the File Name or other criteria you want to identify the file to import. This is the same as any other Import Group you have setup previously. In this example we will import a file called News.MP3.

  13. Next, set the Item Type that is being imported and optionally, the Category to import into.

  14. Set the Media ID, Media Range or default range for Media Type that you want to use to import the audio file to the Media Wall. In this example, the file will be imported into Media ID 7000.

  15. Finally, decide whether to Delete the source file after import or Take no action. Click on the Finish button to complete the Import Group setup.

The AutoImporter Group will be added to the list of Groups and the Media will be imported into the Media Wall whenever a new file is detected.

Setting Up OneDrive Importer Groups

The process for one drive is broadly the same with the only difference being the OneDrive login.

  1. In AutoImporter, click on the Importers Menu and select Add new Importer Group.

  2. Give the group a suitable Name and select the Files in a Onedrive folder option.

  3. Click on the Login to OneDrive button.

  4. You will need to login using your Microsoft account details.

  5. You will also need to Authenticate using whatever you usual method is.

  6. Once you are logged in, click the Consent option and the Accept to allow AutoImporter to access your Onedrive account.

  7. From here, all the steps are the same as the Dropbox setup covered above. Jump to Step 9 above for the rest of the setup process.
