Artist Groups in Schedule Plus

Modified on Tue, 24 Sep at 12:40 PM

Prerequisites:

  • Myriad Playout v6
  • Schedule Plus

Schedule Plus customers can use Artist Groups to apply separation rules to Songs performed by related artists.

A typical example application could be The Beatles. Obviously, The Beatles had a number of big hits but band members also went on to have successful solo careers as well as collaborate with other Artists.

In order to avoid a Song by The Beatles being scheduled to play 'too close' to a Song by John Lennon, you can create an Artist Group which includes The Beatles as well as John Lennon, Paul McCartney etc.

To create an Artist Group, follow these steps:

  1. In either Myriad Playout or the Myriad Schedule application, click on the View Menu > Manage Artists/Item Titles option.

  2. On the Manage Artists / Item Titles window, click on the Artists Groups button on the main tab.

  3. You will see a list of existing Artist Groups on the left-hand side. Click on an Artists Group to see the Artists inside the Artists Group.

TIP: Remember that you need to add the original group to this list along with the individual Artists, Ie 'The Beatles' needs to be added to 'The Beatles' Artist Group!

  4. To add a new Artists to an Artists Group, click on the Add Artists button.

  5. In this example, we will add Rihanna to the Artists Group as she did a collaboration Song with Paul McCartney. Click on the Add Artists button and then start typing in the Artists name. You can see a list of potential matches as your type.

When you have selected the Artist you want to add, click on OK.

  6. You will now see the Artist included within the Artists Group. When setting your Schedule Rules per Category, you can add in the Artist Group separation rule which will be applied to everyone in an Artists Group whenever any Song by someone else in the Artists Group is scheduled.

  7. When setting your Schedule Rules per Category, you can add in the Artist Group separation rule which will be applied to everyone in an Artists Group whenever any Song by someone else in the Artists Group is scheduled.

In the example above, we have applied a Song Artist Group Separation Rule (set to 2 hours) in the Gold Song Category. This means that if a Beatles song is scheduled from the Gold Category, nothing by The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr or Rihanna can be scheduled within two hours - although as this is set to be a breakable rule, it could schedule one if it had to!

NOTE - This will also mean that scheduling a Rihanna song would prevent a George Harrison song within the period set by the rule even although Rihanna and George Harrison may have never even met. In practice, you would be better creating another Artists Group that includes only Rihanna, Paul McCartney and Kanye West as this would better limit the scope of the Artists Group restriction.

  8. You can also download pre-built Artist Groups list by clicking on the Download button on the Manage Artist / Item Title window.

  9. Select the pre-built list you want to download and click on OK.

  10. Once the list has downloaded, you will see a summary of all new Artists Groups created and/or altered.

You can select the changes you want to be implemented by ticking or unticking the Group Name then click on OK to complete the process.

Please note that by using this service, you are also agreeing to share your Artists Groups with the Myriad Community.
