Using "Single Sign On" (SSO) to login to Myriad Cloud using your Broadcast.Radio account

Introduction

Important: This information only applies to Myriad Cloud, it does not apply to Myriad Cloud Dedicated, where Myriad is running inside Windows VM's or on physical workstations.

Previously, Broadcast.Radio and Myriad Cloud used two separate security databases - one for Broadcast.Radio for users that manage your websites/streaming/apps etc. and Myriad Cloud for the Presenters and Producers who present and manage the radio content of your station.

The downside to this separation was that, for the users who need access to BOTH platforms, you needed to add user accounts into both systems separately, which often meant the users needing to manage 2 separate sets of login credentials etc.

With the latest Myriad Cloud release (25th January 2024 - v6.3.24025), the great news is that you can now activate "SSO" ("Single Sign On") which makes it much easier to manage users, as you now only need to add them to the Broadcast.Radio platform, and then just specify what security group permissions to apply in Myriad and they will be able to login immediately.

Updating Myriad Cloud:

The first step is to ensure your Myriad Cloud station is running at least v6.3.24025.

You can find out what version of Myriad Cloud you are running by logging in to Myriad Anywhere for your Myriad Cloud station, and going to the Admin pages and checking the "Software Versions" report.

Activating Single Sign On:

Turning the new SSO feature on is very easy - in your Broadcast.Radio portal, click Settings, then Users, and at the top then click the "Settings" button - https://my.broadcast.radio/station/x/options/users :

On the settings dialog that pops up you will see 3 separate options to choose from:

You need to choose either option 2 or 3 to activate the integrated SSO mode:

"Allow signing in with Myriad accounts only" - This does not provide any integration, and you will need to manage your user accounts separately in both Broadcast.Radio AND Myriad Cloud.
"Allow signing in with Myriad accounts and Broadcast.Radio" - This turns on SSO, but still allows you to create and manager user accounts directly within Myriad Cloud as well.

When users login to Myriad Anywhere, they can either enter their Myriad Login name and password OR click the separate button to be automatically logged in with their Broadcast.Radio account.
"Only allow signing in with Broadcast.Radio" - this turns on SSO and you will manage all of your users directly from within the Broadcast.Radio User management page at https://my.broadcast.radio/station/x/options/users.

When users visit Myriad Anywhere, they will just click a single button to be automatically logged in using their Broadcast.Radio security credentials.

We recommend using option 2 initially, as this will cover the period while you are migrating users from the old separate accounts to the new SSO system. This gives you time to create any new Broadcast.Radio users accounts for any users that previously only had accounts directly in Myriad Anywhere and for them to login for the first time and set their password etc.

By using option 2, they will continue to see the option to login with their existing Myriad account but will also see the "Login with Broadcast.Radio" button that can be used by users once they HAVE been migrated - see below.

Important: To make sure that Myriad user's retain all of their existing favourites/preferences etc, you MUST edit their existing user account in Myriad and enter their email address in the "Primary Email:" field and click save. Broadcast.Radio and Myriad use the Primary Email address information to connect Broadcast.Radio accounts with the respective information in Myriad.

Once you have completed migrating any users accounts across, you can then switch to option 3, and the next time a user logs in via the Myriad Anywhere they will be asked if they are happy to allow automatic login with their Broadcast.Radio credentials and then any future logins will be just a single click. If they need to change their password, they can do this by clicking on their name in the top right-hand corner of their https://my.broadcast.radio user portal.

Managing the Myriad Security group membership information for Broadcast.Radio users:

You can manage which Myriad Security Group a user is assigned to from the Broadcast.Radio Users page. For example, on this station, there is a single user called Peter, who belongs to the "Administrators" Security Group in Myriad.

Clicking on the edit button shows the User Details, and you see each station that the user is associated with and change their security group membership for each separate Myriad Cloud station.
