Mobile App - End User FAQs

This page contains answers to commonly asked questions about radio station apps.

The Radio Is Silent / Nothing Is Playing

First, check the radio station's schedule to see if a programme should be live.

If you can't see the schedule in the app, the station may only have their schedule on their website.

Some radio stations use 'Geo Blocking' technology and are only playable in their country of origin. If you're travelling abroad, or downloaded the app whilst in another country, the station may not be available in your region.

Some (free) Wi-Fi networks may block radio services. If you're travelling on public transport, video/audio websites are generally unavailable through this service. Some school and work Wi-Fi networks may also block radio services. We recommend turning off Wi-Fi seeing if the radio plays on mobile data.

If that does not solve the issue, reach out to the radio station for further advice and support.

I'm Not Receiving Any Notifications

Not all broadcasters use notifications.

When you open the radio app, the Bell icon on the top right will illuminate to show unread notifications. If you didn't receive a push notification, you may have blocked app notifications on your phone.

If the bell is missing or isn't illuminated, the station doesn't use push notifications.

First, tap on the Bell icon and make sure the toggle slider is turned on.

On iOS, we recommend deleting and re-installing the app, and then choosing "Allow" when the app asks if you want to receive notifications.

How Do I Opt Out Of Notifications?

To opt out of notifications, simply tap on the picture of the Bell, and turn off the toggle slider.

I'm A Samsung User - The Radio is Pausing Every Few Minutes

By default, Samsung phones have restrictions that stop most apps after the screen is locked for a few minutes. Although there are exceptions for music streaming services like Spotify and YouTube, these are not available to independent radio station apps.

To solve this, try the following steps:

  1. On the home screen, long press on the radio station app and choose App Info
  2. Scroll down to the Battery section.
  3. Change the mode to Unrestricted

For more information, read this article from Samsung support.
