Introduction
Installing Microsoft SQL Server can be quite a challenging technical task, so we have created an easy scripted installation tool to help you install it as easily as possible.
Of course, if you have any doubts at all, we recommend contacting the Broadcast Radio Support Team for advice before you start.
We can also do the installation for you, especially if you are not fully comfortable with the level of technical expertise required. Please contact hello@broadcastradio.com to arrange a suitable time for us to do this for you.

Procedure
Downloading the SQL Installation file
The first step is to download our all SQL Installer zip file. This contains all the files needed to install SQL as well as several scripts that will automatically install and configure it for you, even setting up automated backup and maintenance tasks. These are based on the scripts that we actually use ourselves when we preinstall SQL onto Broadcast Radio supplied PCs and servers.

This is quite a large download, so may take a few minutes depending on your internet speed.
Once this has downloaded to your PC, click the option in your browser to go to the location that the zip file has been downloaded to:
Extracting the files from the downloaded file
Right click on this file and choose "Extract All... " :
Then when asked where to extract the contents to, please enter "C:\SQLInstallation" and click Extract. This will take a few moments.
Running the Installation Script
The folder should then open automatically, and you will see a file called "InstallSQL2019" or "InstallSQL2019.cmd". Right click on this file and choose Run As administrator:
A command prompt window will open and after a few seconds it will ask you which drive letter you want to install SQL onto. We recommend using the largest available drive letter, and if possible this should be different from your main C: drive. For example, PC's supplied by Broadcast Radio have a "D:" drive that we use for all SQL and Myriad data files. Press the letter for the drive, and the automatic process will begin:
You will see several windows with progress bars on as Microsoft SQL Server and also Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio ("SSMS") is installed. If at any point you see any error messages, please don't click anything and contact our support team for assistance completing the installation.
Once the two main installers have completed, you will then be prompted twice for the password for the currently logged in Administrator. This password is used to add Scheduled Tasks that will automatically create backups of your databases every night and also perform some basic SQL database cleanup tasks each week:
Installation Finished!
At the end of the installer script, SQL Server is installed and ready to use, and you can the proceed to install and configure Myriad.
Alternative manual installation
Attached below is a document that explains how to manually install SQL. This was written for Microsoft SQL Server Express 2016 but the basic procedure is the same for Microsoft SQL Server Express 2019.
